Autumn Paradise Babymoon in Queenstown

37 Weeks pregnant. And a last chance for spontaneity.Ryan and I had been playing with the idea for a mini getaway before our little baby bean entered our lives, but the plans never came together, until I started ogling over all the crazy, beautiful Autumn foliage shots coming from down south. I hopped on Skyscanner (as I do almost daily) and on Sunday night, I booked us flights for that Tuesday to Queenstown.

The flight down was the perfect start to the trip and honestly the most beautiful flight, Ryan or I have ever experienced. We took turns staring out the window at the snow-covered Southern Alps, catching clear views of Mount Cook, Lake Tekapo and Lake Pukaki.Upon landing, we headed straight to grab our rental car and set off for our favorite brunch spot, Bespoke Kitchen to plan our next two days. Since the autumn colors are famous in Arrowtown and we had never visited the little gold mining town before, we drove over to explore.

After playing in the golden leaves, we checked into our lovely Airbnb overlooking Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables (if you are looking for a place to stay in QT, we highly recommend staying here).

For sunset, we drove up to the Remarkables to catch the last light of the day.

The next morning, alarms went off before 6am and we hopped in the car to head to Glenorchy for sunrise. As we drove the clouds continued to roll in, hiding the mountain views so we made a last minute decision and headed up to Coronet Peak to watch the sun rise over Arrowtown. After coffee and breakfast in town, we decided to head back to Glenorchy and spent the next few hours hanging in Paradise (yes, this is a real place).Sunset didn't look promising so we drove back towards Queenstown, making photo stops on the way.Our flight back to Wellington was scheduled for the next morning, but of course, we had to catch one last sunrise. We ran over to Lake Hayes and watched the sky glow pink from this perfect, little pier.We still had time before needing to head to the airport so we drove over to Arrowtown to say goodbye to the golden hues.It was short, but exactly what we wanted. Thanks QT for the fresh mountain air, snow-covered peaks and insanely, gorgeous Autumn leaves - we'll be back soon. xViktoria (and Ryan and baby bean)
